Walking Flag: Diplomatic Allies Scarves Project – A New Way to Make Friends
Concept
How familiar are you with the countries that maintain diplomatic relations with Taiwan? With the growing concern that more countries may break off ties, it's important for Taiwanese people to recognise and appreciate these diplomatic allies. To raise awareness, we designed 15 unique silk scarves, each inspired by the national flags of Taiwan’s allies. These scarves blend illustrations and national symbols, helping you to connect with and learn about these countries.
Description
These scarves make diplomacy part of daily life, transforming what is typically a governmental issue into something personal and fashionable. Portable and stylish, the scarves resemble national flags flying in the wind, easily complementing your wardrobe. By wearing them, you’re not only making a fashion statement but also celebrating Taiwan’s diplomatic allies wherever you go.
Design outcomes
Vatican City
Featuring the iconic San Pietro Vaticano and people gathered in the square, with the national emblem subtly incorporated into the design, capturing the essence of daily life in Vatican City.
Belize
The blue of the scarf represents the Great Blue Hole coral reef, while the red bands depict abstract totems symbolising the pyramids of the Maya civilisation.
Republic of Honduras
Coffee branches dominate the top part, symbolising Honduras' renowned coffee industry, while the lower section combines colonial architecture. The national flag’s five stars are discreetly hidden behind clouds.
